The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has assured the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria of the traditional institution’s support while urging the commission to sustain efforts to improve efficiency in the administration of Hajj operations.
Bamalli gave the assurance on Wednesday when he visited the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
NAHCON, in a statement by its Head, Information and Publications Division, Shafi Mohammed, said the Emir commended the commission’s ongoing reforms, stressing that managing the logistics for tens of thousands of Nigerian pilgrims required dedication, transparency and strategic planning.
The statement read in part, “During the visit, the royal father assured NAHCON of the traditional institution’s support while advocating for continuous improvements and sustained efficiency in the administration of Hajj exercises for Nigerian pilgrims.
“The Emir commended the leadership of NAHCON for its ongoing efforts to reform Hajj operations, noting that managing the logistics for tens of thousands of pilgrims is a monumental task that requires a high level of dedication, transparency, and strategic planning. He emphasised that the Zazzau Emirate, and the traditional institution at large, remains a critical stakeholder in mobilising and sensitising intending pilgrims to ensure a seamless exercise.

“Hajj is a significant spiritual journey, and the comfort, safety, and well-being of our people while fulfilling this religious obligation must remain paramount.
“ We are here to offer our prayers, counsel, and support to NAHCON. We also urge the commission to sustain its drive toward structural efficiency, early preparations, and transparent communication to overcome recurring operational challenges,” the Emir stated.
The NAHCON chairman, in his response, thanked the Emir of Zazzau for the visit, describing it as a significant morale boost for the commission’s management and staff.
The statement added, “The Chairman briefed the royal father on the commission’s latest policy frameworks, digital innovations, and strategic partnerships aimed at reducing costs, improving accommodation, feeding arrangements, and streamlining the airlift of pilgrims.
“The NAHCON boss assured the Emir that the commission would look into the valuable insights provided during the interaction, reiterating NAHCON’s commitment to delivering a world-class Hajj experience that meets the expectations of the Nigerian government and the Muslim Ummah.”
Nigeria has been allocated a quota of 50,000 pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj, with 35,000 slots designated for government-sponsored pilgrims and the remaining 15,000 reserved for licensed tour operators.
As part of the requirements set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, NAHCON completed the uploading of biometric data of all intending pilgrims onto the designated Nusuk-Masar platform on September 26.
Meanwhile, states are expected to conclude payment of all 2027 Hajj fares by December 2, 2026.
